Why Grimes No Longer Believes that Art is Dead

By Andrew R. Chow

A couple of years ago, Grimes thought art might be dying. She worried that TikTok was overwhelming attention spans; that transgressive artists were becoming more sanitized; that gimmicky NFTs like the Bored Ape Yacht Club—digital cartoon monkeys which were selling for millions of dollars—were warping value systems.

“I just went through this whole big ‘art isn’t worth anything’ internal existential crisis,” the Canadian singer-songwriter says. “But I’ve come out the other end thinking, actually, maybe it’s the main thing that matter…

Crashlands 2 Comes In For A Landing This Spring

Nearly nine years ago, the original Crashlands introduced players to an alien space trucker named Flux Dabes as she survived a crash landing on the planet Woanope and crafted her way out of that jam. Flux’s history will repeat itself this spring when Crashlands 2 arrives. In the new trailer below, Flux is literally dropped on to Woanope again as she is forced to make a new life for herself until she can get off-world.

Essentially, Flux has to start over from scratch. That means if she wants a home, she’ll have to build one herself. As before, Flux can craft her own objects and buildings, and she can also create weapons, traps, and any kind of gadget she needs to survive on Woaope. But on this world, Flux isn’t necessarily on top of the food chain, and the alien creatures…

Lord Of The Rings- Everything We Know About Hunt For Gollum And The Next Movies

Believe it or not, Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning The Lord of the Rings movies debuted more than 20 years ago. The third movie, Return of the King, swept the Oscars and won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Jackson. He followed those up with a much less critically adored (but still commercially successful!) The Hobbit trilogy. Now, two decades on, Warner Bros. and New Line have announced plans to make new The Lord of the Rings movies, and that makes for potentially exciting news for fans of the series.

As with any announcement about new entries to a beloved series, some fans are skeptical, and understandably so. WB/New Line is plotting ahead with an attempt to create what insiders are calling a Star Wars-like universe for Middle-ear…

Megalopolis Trailer Pulled After Fans Discover It Was Full Of Fake Review Quotes

After decades of trying to get Megalopolis made, director Francis Ford Coppola put up $120 million of his own money for the film. But the promotional campaign is off to a rocky start after the trailer was pulled by Lionsgate because fans discovered that it quoted fake reviews for Coppola’s earlier movies.

Megalopolis was already facing bad buzz after its festival screenings. The trailer seemed like it was designed to counter that by quoting contemporary negative reviews for The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The implication was that critics were wrong about these classics, and also wrong about Megalopolis. However, it didn’t take long for people to realize that the reviews in question weren’t real.

Via Variety, a Lionsgate spokesperson said, “We offer …

The ESRB Made A Song To Celebrate Turning 30 For Some Reason

In September 1994, the Entertainment Software Rating Board officially began rating video games in North America, a practice which it continues to this day. Although the ESRB’s 30th anniversary won’t officially arrive until September 16, its employees have decided to celebrate a few weeks early by releasing a new song, E is for Everyone, which playfully explains the purpose of its game ratings.

As related on the ESRB’s official site, this song was inspired by the educational tunes from the Schoolhouse Rock animated show of the ’70s and ’80s. Presumably the animated singers in this video are based on real people who work for the ESRB, but the video doesn’t credit them by name. The lyrics of the song also explain how the rating process unfolds, the four major ratings, as we…

One of SteelSeries’ best wireless headsets is half off at Best Buy

SteelSeriesCameron Faulkner (he/him) is Polygon’s commerce editor. He began writing about tech and gaming in 2013, and migrated from The Verge in 2023.If you want the best that SteelSeries has to offer in the PC/PlayStation headset space, but understandably don’t want to pay over $300 for its Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, then you’re in luck. The next best thing is the Arctis Pro Wireless, and it’s $139.99 at Best Buy (was $279.99). Each claims to deliver around 20 hours of use, and whichever isn’t in use can be recharged in the included base station…
